The Relevance of Love in Leadership
The word love can be applied in more ways than its typical use of romantic acknowledgment. We can also talk about love in how we generally relate or engage with one another across various settings. In the leadership environment, the word love is sometimes not embraced or not fully recognized as something that's important, which is an interesting notion.
Why is it only relevant in our personal life?
So often we would say that the professional space isn’t the appropriate setting for love. That we should maintain the separation of Business/Personal Life and its components.
What does this approach serve? Knowing that Love is our true nature, is it serving the experience that we desire?
Mostly not! Mostly, in spaces that feel separated, we find a lacking sense of appreciation towards one another. The way individuals are being related to or addressed tends to be very unpleasant. We show up and interact with more fear, we hide parts of ourselves. Inhibiting creative expression and the performance that leaders and businesses drive for.
When we want the best for our significant others or our families and children, we would never keep Love away from them, right?
If we care for leadership, performance, and achievements, love must be part of the equation here as well!
